Dean Prescott, Owner

Dean started turning wrenches on gate operators before LiftMaster redesigned their LA400 line, which tells you he’s been at this a while. He founded Portcullis Gate Repair Austin in 2008 and still rides along on installs when a job involves tricky grade changes or legacy operators that predate smartphone diagnostics. Dean’s the one who answers the phone after hours more often than not, because he’s never seen much point in a 24/7 line that rolls to voicemail. He’ll tell you straight what a repair should cost, what it shouldn’t, and whether a part is worth rebuilding before you spend money on a new one.

Marcus R., Lead Technician

Marcus has been with us for eleven years and has worked on every brand we service. He’s the one we send when a FAAC or BFT operator is doing something intermittent that doesn’t throw a clean error code. Marcus is certified across LiftMaster, DoorKing, and Viking systems, and he’s the guy who figured out that a stretch of copper wiring near Lake Austin was failing because of humidity and soil alkalinity, not a bad control board. Outside of the shop he rebuilds old Yamaha motorcycles, which is probably why he’s so good at diagnosing worn limit switches by ear.

Sandra G., Senior Installer

Sandra has been installing gates in the Austin area for thirteen years, the last seven of them with our crew. She handles most of our full installations, from single-family driveway swing gates to commercial slide gates with vehicle loop detectors and safety photo eyes. Sandra is our specialist on Ghost Controls and Mighty Mule systems when a property owner wants a reliable operator without a rat’s nest of unnecessary wiring. She grew up in Del Valle and knows exactly how fast cedar pollen and high wind will coat a newly installed gate track, so she overbuilds for it from day one.

Jenny T., Service Coordinator

Jenny is the voice on the phone when you call during business hours, and she’s been dispatching our Austin crews for six years. Before she schedules anything, she asks a few questions the way a good triage nurse would, because “the gate won’t open” could mean a dead remote battery or a sheared gear inside the operator. Jenny keeps a running map of every job in progress and every technician’s ETA so the arrival window we give you is a real one, not a guess.
